Northwest Heath Information Technology Awards:
Recognizing Exceptional Leadership and
Commitment to Improving Health through Health IT

Premise:
The awards will be presented based upon strategies and actions for using health IT and health information exchange to improve the quality, safety and efficiency of healthcare by:
- Improving management of patient privacy and confidentiality
- Improving population health
- Transforming care delivery
- Engaging consumers
Awards will be presented at the Northwest Medical Informatics Symposium, September 10, 2008, in Spokane, Washington.
Who Can Apply?
An organization or individual may nominate itself/themselves or others. Applicants may represent any sector of the health care industry, including physicians, health care providers, other health care professionals, hospitals or other providers, public health entities, elected or appointed officials, public or private sector agencies and academic or research institutions.
Selection Criteria:
Strategies and actions in alignment with the following principles:
- Demonstration of Improvement in Health or Healthcare - Using health information technology or health information exchange to manage patient privacy and confidentiality, improve population health, transform care delivery or engage consumers.
- Demonstration of Collaboration with Other Stakeholders - Collaborating on health information technology and health system improvement with other organizations and individuals including consumers, employers, payers, physicians, public health, hospitals, etc.
- Demonstration of Exceptional Leadership and Commitment - Showing leadership in the promotion and use of health information technology or health information exchange within and outside of the organization.
- Demonstration of Sharing of Best Practices - Showing commitment to helping other individuals or health care organizations learn from the organization's or individual's experiences.
